How To Overcome Recurring Negative Thoughts?

Do you have recurring negative thoughts?

I will share with you a comprehensive holistic, sustainable lasting long solution that will free you from recurring negative thoughts.

Today will be the first set of three best practices that will help you overcome recurring negative thoughts.

First, I will share with you three to four pillars of cognitive performance, which will give you a solid basis and solid foundation moving forward. Second, I will show you the best practices in high performance psychology that you will be able to use immediately whenever you find yourself with recurrent negative thoughts; and third, I'll give you the next level of understanding that the quantum do teaches from an applied spirit level. so, you can be on your way to overcoming recurring negative thoughts! Let us jump in!

When you have recurring negative thoughts, the first thing you need to assess since it is always recurring is your cognitive performance.

Your cognitive performance starts with the basis of your physiology and your physical well-being.

I want to emphasize this part because people confuse the brain with the mind, the mind does not exist. In fact, if you ask any licensed therapist, they will confirm that the mind is not a scientific concept because it is pseudo-science, and I do not have a whole time to explain to you here. You can check on my earlier writing in Dec 2023- on where I explained in detail the context.

But the mind, mind-body -spirit, as we know it today was first coined from Rene Descartes, the French philosopher and mathematician in 1600's. So, it is important to not confuse the brain with the mind. Yet a lot of literatures talk about the mind and reprogramming your mind and soon and so forth.

Why do I want to bring this to your attention?

It is because no matter how smart you are, no matter how strong willed you are or how good intentioned you are, if your physiology is not sound, it will be hard for you to have a robust cognitive performance.

So first, if you are constantly having recurring negative thoughts it might mean that your nervous system is constantly functioning in a gear of fight flight or freeze, what do I mean?

Because the autonomic nervous system is one of the major neural pathways activated by stress. Let us quickly review what is the autonomic nervous system. Because it is part of your overall nervous system that controls the automatic function of your body that you need to survive with these processes that you do not think about and that your brain manages while you are awake, or you are asleep.

So, your autonomic nervous system breaks down into three divisions on its own. There is the first one, the suns or the sympathetic nervous system, this system activates your body processes that help you in times of need, especially in time of stress or danger. And this system is responsible for your flight or fight.

And you got the parasympathetic nervous system, that does the opposite of your sympathetic nervous system. Meaning the parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for the rest and digest processes. And the third nervous system that helps in the autonomic nervous system is the enteric nervous system which manages how your body digests food. So those three systems are part of your autonomic nervous system.

The reason it is relevant to you is because your sympathetic and your parasympathetic nervous create a balancing act; how?

Your sympathetic nervous system activates your body processes, and your parasympathetic nervous system deactivates and lowers them. So, that balance is key for your body, well balanced and ongoing survival.

So, in such a way, the autonomic nervous system is one of the major neural pathways activated by stress. So, in situations that are often associated with chronic stress, right, such as depressive disorders, they can be continuously activated without a normal contraction of the parasympathetic nervous system.

So that is why you need to learn how to take charge of that balance, how to make sure that balance exists. The answer is simple.

You need to understand how your brain cells communicate via neurotransmitters. And here I don't have a whole time, but for more details, I talked about that in my weekly blog in December 2023 where I talked about the ketamine and the effects of drug usage on the brain, and I talked about the way the neural network, how the neural transmitter works, and how drugs interfere with the way the neuron sends, receive and process signal, and because the way the neuron send and process signals affect your thoughts and your emotions, and what is your reference when you make decision!

So particularly I talked about the four happy hormones, how to activate those and the top four hormones or neurotransmitters. Let me talk about those quickly. So, if you think about those, you got dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins.

  • Dopamine: Known as the “feel-good” hormone, dopamine is a neurotransmitter that’s an important part of your brain’s reward system. It is associated with pleasurable sensations, along with learning, memory, and more.
  • Serotonin: This hormone and neurotransmitter helps regulate your mood as well as your sleep, appetite, digestion, learning ability, and memory.
  • Oxytocin: Often called the “love hormone,” oxytocin is essential for childbirth, breastfeeding, and strong parent-child bonding. It can also help promote trust, empathy, and bonding in relationships. Levels increase with physical affection.
  • Endorphins: These hormones are your body’s natural pain reliever, which your body produces in response to stress or discomfort. Levels may also increase when you engage in reward-producing activities such as eating, working out, or having sex.

So, I do not have time to get into more details. But I hope you can see the tools, clear activities you can do to activate those four neurotransmitters.

But now the real question is why all this relevant?

It is relevant, because in high performance specifically, when you zoom into spirit performance coaching, which is my specialty and you need to understand that the drivers and changes in cognitive performance, that's important because different frequencies of the brain will give you access to different information.

The distinct types of brain waves -

Delta waves frequencies (0-4Hertz)-mostly during deep sleep (body healing and cells restoring)

Theta((4-8Hz), Early stage of drowsiness, day dreaming, sleepy

Alpha (8-13)-State of relaxed wakefulness (decreased in fixation, visual stimulation)

Beta - state of alertness - daily activities

Low beta (12-15 Hz)- when you are thinking.

Beta waves (15-22)- activities of focus

High beta (22-38)- excited or anxious- or when you experience something new or complex thoughts.

Gamma waves are the fastest brain waves(30-80Hz)- highly alert and conscious. And so, if you think about the distinct type of brain waves,

Why all this is relevant?

Again, it is relevant because different frequencies will give you access to different information.

Meaning if you are tuning into the same negative channel, it will be hard to tune into a different channel. So, it is all connected, for example, the delta brain wave frequencies are accessed when you are in deep sleep.

And so, I wanted to share this because these foundations are key especially, in order for a tree to produce amazing fruits, you need to make sure that the tree is well hydrated in a rich soil, or similarly. If you talk about a  high performing computer or a platform to function optimally, you need solid and strong hardware first as  basis; First, before you can talk about the high performing software and that is what I want to address here first because whether you talk about a natural system like a tree or our body or a manufactured system, our approach in the quantum do is that holistic inclusive approach in all five dimensions of human experience from first, a scientific perspective, which we just addressed today.

And the second part and third part, we will talk about the high-performance psychology approach and third, we will talk about the spiritual dimension. So today, in part one I wanted to address that hardware part, the scientific part, that is not addressed much.
