applied spirit Jun 11, 2024

Have you ever woken up from your sleep feeling like you just conquered a challenge?

Dreams can be more than just mental adventures. They can be a powerful tool to boost your performance in the real world, but how do you harness your dreams to supercharge your performance?

Whether you’re an athlete, executive, artist, student, or professional, your dreams can be a powerful tool for boosting your skills , creativity and results.

Today, we’re diving into a fascinating topic: how to harness your dreams for performance enhancement.

In the first part of the video, we’ll review the healing function of dreams, their benefits and why we need to integrate dreams into our toolbox for optimizing your day-to-day just like taking a shower.

In the second part of the video, we’ll explore practical tips for using dreams as a performance tool.

and finally in the third part of the video, which is my favorite, we’ll go beyond the practical in the spiritual realm and see why dreams are universal tools and necessary nourishment to our human spirit.

Let’s get started!

The healing functions of the dreams

It’s been documented that dreams can play major roles in various aspects of healing, and in many dimensions, whether it be physical, emotional, or psychological.

On a Physical healing level, first

Immune System: healthy dreaming cycles, supports the immune system, helping the body to repair and heal and even further studies show improvement in pain management by helping individuals cope better with chronic pain conditions due to the fact that dreaming can influence pain perception and,

Second,

physically.

Cognitive System: dreams help the neuroplasticity by contributing to brain plasticity, which is essential for recovery from brain injuries and adapting to new learning, because it helps with cognitive processing due to the fact that it helps in reorganizing cognitive structures, making sense of experiences, and maintaining cognitive health.

Which leads us to the third health benefits of dreams which is about improving

Memory: Because dreams participate in consolidating memories, integrating new information with existing knowledge, it helps with problem solving and providing creative insights.

Which is a good transition to dream contribution to Mental Health.

Dreams often reflect inner thoughts and feelings, providing a space for self-reflection and insight into your mental state, which means dreams help regulate mood and we’ve seen that disruptions in dreams have been linked to mental health issues like depression and anxiety.

That brings us right into the Emotional dimension of dreams,

because dreams can help reduce stress through processing emotions and experiences from the day/day and even help people process traumatic events, aiding them in emotional recovery and reducing symptoms of PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). Which means if you can extrapolate the benefits at the social level,

You can see even that dreams by addressing unresolved conflicts, allow people to process and resolve these issues subconsciously which fosters social skills enhancement and empathy by simulating real-life social experiences.

Now let’s pivot on the second part Practical Tips for Using Dreams as a Performance Tool

There are two main approaches to using dreams to improve your performance in waking life:

Lucid Dreaming and Dream Recall and Interpretation:

In a lucid dream, you can practice specific skills or rehearse scenarios you might encounter in real life, like a presentation or a difficult action in sports.

And even without lucidity, recalling your dreams more vividly can be beneficial. By analyzing recurring themes or emotional tones in your dreams, you might gain insights into anxieties or areas for improvement that can be addressed in your waking life. So let’s cite tangible practices you can engage in.

  • Dream Journaling: Keep a journal by your bedside to record your dreams immediately upon waking. This helps in identifying patterns, insights, and areas for improvement.
  • Lucid Dreaming Techniques: Practice mindfulness techniques such as reality checks,
  • Set Intentions: Before going to bed, set clear intentions about what you want to achieve in your dreams, whether it’s practicing a skill, solving a problem, or visualizing a performance.
  • Reflect and Integrate
  • Creative Problem-Solving- dreams can help overcome creative blocks by allowing the subconscious mind to explore new possibilities without the constraints of rational thought. Dreams often bring together disparate pieces of information, leading to unique and innovative solutions that might not be reached during waking hours. This is beneficial for artists, writers, scientists, and business professionals.

Now let’s jump right unto the third party of the video, my favorite,

The spiritual dimension of dreams and how they are instrumental in nourishing the human spirit.

The fundamental act of dreaming is universal eventough with different symbols dreams can be influenced by cultural context, the reality is that Dreams reflect universal human experiences such as birth, death, love, fear, and personal growth. These experiences transcend cultural boundaries and are a common part of the human condition.

Sharing dreams, help sometimes with guidance and making decisions.

They are expressions of Human Experience- Dreams play a significant role in myths, legends, and folklore worldwide, often seen as omens, prophecies, or divine communications.

When you look at common themes, or archetypes symbol across humanity in dreams, that is when you even further realize why dreams are nourishment for the spirit.

Let us pause for a second and realize that a human without a dream is like an impotent castrated male.

All cultures talk about that- without a vision a man should perish.

We can all relate because dreams connect to the spiritual realms, to the transcendental-

The fuel of America-The American dream-

Even further we have all heard.

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character” … Dr MLK.Jr

Why is it memorable?

Because Dreams fuel us, because dream connect us to our potential, they connect us to our divine self, dream connect us to what we know is possible, our core self.

Okay To summarize,

Dreams play significant roles in various aspects of healing, encompassing physical, emotional, and mental dimensions and second, we saw how dreams can be harnessed as a performance tool in various fields to improve skills, including sports, arts, education, and professional environments and finally we just saw why dreams are crucial to the human spirit.
