 The US suicide rate increased by 2.6% in 2022 to 49,449 people, according to statistics released in August 2023 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as official data continues to show an upward trend after numbers fell in 2019 and 2020.

The rise in 2022 follows a 5% increase in US citizens taking their own lives in 2021, with campaigners suggesting the figures reveal a worsening mental health crisis in the United States.

 Current strategies are helping but unfortunately not enough, the issue will get worse mainly because current solutions are treating the symptoms and not addressing the real root causes.
